The small wild strawberries are part of the rosacea(e) family, as their white flowers show. They grow in light shady places such as under broadleaf trees. They spread with runners. The seeds of the wild strawberries are the small, hard, green nuts that sit on the red pulp. Over the winter, the nuts often sit on the drying fruits and fall down in the spring.

小小的森林草莓是薔薇科家族的一份子，從他們的白色花朵就可見一斑。他們生長在有點陰影卻又照得到光的地方，譬如闊葉林下面。他們透過匍匐莖來散播出去。森林草莓的種子通常是又小又硬的綠色核果樣，長在紅色的果肉上。冬天時，核果通常都會待在死去的果肉上，然後在春天時落地。
